Before you hire a developer, spend a day with a CTO.
Your product works, and now you've hit a hump: a feature, or a few, that you can't get over on your own. Often what you need isn't a developer for months. It's one day with someone who has built it before, at about a tenth of the cost.
The usual humps
Hard enough that AI tools go in circles on them, small enough that one experienced person can build them in a day.
- Payments, subscriptions and invoicing that actually reconcile
- Teams, roles and permissions
- An integration with someone else's API
- Background jobs, scheduled work and notifications
- AI features that go beyond a single prompt
- A mobile app from the web app you already have
A developer, or a day
Hire a developer
- Weeks to find someone, then time to get them up to speed on your code
- A month or two of salary or contractor fees, often $20,000 to $40,000
- If you're not technical, you can't tell whether it was built well
Feature Day
- Booked in days, and we've read your code before we sit down
- $3,000 for the day, prep included
- You're in the room for every decision and leave knowing how it works
- 1
Before we meet
We read your code and scope the feature with you, so the day starts with a plan: what to build, where it goes, and what it touches.
- 2
Build it together
Inside the code you already have, properly: the data model, the back end, the screens and the edge cases. The AI types; the CTO decides.
- 3
Ship it
Deployed and tested, with a walkthrough of how it works so you, a developer or your AI tools can keep extending it.
$3,000 for the day
1 day, prep included
Includes the prep work before we meet: reading your code and scoping the feature, so we start building at 9.
Need more than a day? Every day after the first is a follow-on day at $2,000, or $1,000 for half a day. Full pricing.
In person in Boston
Side by side at Venture Lane. Lunch is on us.
Virtual from anywhere
Over a video call, from anywhere in the world. It works just as well.
One day or two halves
A full day, or two sessions of about 4 hours on different days. We're not strict; some run to 6.
Is the hump really months of work? Then a day won't cover it, and we'll tell you on the intro call. Sometimes the honest answer is a CTO and a developer or two, which is what FastCTO is for.
Tell us about the feature.
If you already know you're a fit, apply and we'll schedule your day. If you're not sure, talk to us first. If we're not the right answer, we'll say so and point you somewhere better.
